Well. Here we are.

My very first blog post. I was told this was a good idea, a way to say Hello! I’m a real person, not a mysterious author who exists solely as a bio on my Goodreads account.

And you know what? I quite like that thought.

So, allow me to say it officially:

Hi. I’m Sarah. I write books. But I’m also a human being who’s tripped over in public, cried on the bathroom floor, eaten leftover chocolate cake for breakfast, and Googled “what is this weird thing on my arm.”

In other words, probably just like you.

A Bit About Me (But Not In a Boring Way, Promise)

I’m from Perth, Australia. The beaches are blindingly beautiful, the coffee is unnecessarily good, and the flies have absolutely no respect for personal space. I also spent some years living in Indonesia, in one of those dreamy, salt-sprayed chapters of life where I taught yoga, managed a surf lodge, and regularly asked myself how many coconuts it’s acceptable to drink in a day. (Answer: too many.)

It sounds romantic now. And it was. But also, I got homesick. I missed bookstores. And I met a man who changed everything.

Plot twist. It wasn’t a surf instructor with a six-pack and a mysterious past. He is better. He is real.

I came back to Australia just as the pandemic hit. I wrote the book I’d been circling around for years. The one with heart, humour, healing, and a bit of kissing. Because let’s be honest, books without at least some kissing feel like a missed opportunity.

And now… here I am. You’re here. And I’m so glad.

Quick Confession

Before we go any further, I feel like I should admit something.

Marketing myself as an author does not come naturally to me.

In fact, just writing the words “marketing myself” makes me want to apologise and offer you banana bread to make up for the awkwardness.

But I care about these stories I’m writing. And I care about the people reading them. And I know that in order to connect with you, the lovely, curious, emotionally intelligent human on the other side of the screen, I have to actually show up. Not just as a name on a cover, but as a real, flawed, hopeful person who once tried to create a newsletter and accidentally sent it to herself. Twelve times.

So here I am, showing up. Weird bits and all.

Why I Write

People often ask why I write romantic comedies. (Or maybe they just raise an eyebrow like, “Isn’t that all a bit fluffy?”) But here’s the thing.

Love is not fluffy. Love is brave. Love is messy. Love is staying. Or leaving. Or learning to love yourself after forgetting how for a long, long time.

My stories are about second chances. Starting again. Messing it up. Starting again, again. They’re about people like me, and maybe like you, who are doing their best, sometimes getting it wrong, often craving something more. And slowly, beautifully, figuring it out.

Also, there are jokes. Because if you can’t laugh at the madness of life, what even is the point?

What You Can Expect Here

I’ll be using this blog space to share behind-the-scenes glimpses of my writing life. Also known as the glamorous reality of wearing pyjamas at 2pm and calling it “creative flow.” You’ll find updates on my books, reflections on life, love, and the weird and wonderful business of being a human.

Think of it like a letter from a friend. One who has sand in her shoes, paint on her hands, and probably a cat somewhere nearby knocking something off a shelf.

Before You Go

If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Truly. Starting anything new is scary and vulnerable and thrilling. Having someone to share it with makes all the difference.

Whether you’re a longtime book lover, a yoga enthusiast, a fellow over-thinker, or just someone who likes to read things written with heart, I’m really glad you’re here.

Here’s to stories that heal, laughter that surprises us, and second chances (and third, and fourth) that show up when we least expect them.

With love,

Sarah x

p.s I’d really love to hear from you, especially if you're a writer, a reader with a story, or someone who's walked through their own season of starting over. What’s been on your mind lately? What are you creating, healing, hoping for?

Feel free to write in, I read every message.
