There’s something about a good road trip and a good story that just belong together.

Windows down. Coffee in the cup holder. Endless highway stretching ahead. Tiny coastal towns. Questionable servo snacks. A playlist you’ve already listened to seventeen times because apparently every road trip eventually becomes a 90s singalong.

And now, Van Life with Benefits is officially becoming an audiobook, which honestly feels wildly surreal and very exciting.

Because this book was always written for the dreamers, the wanderers, the weekend escape artists, and the people secretly browsing van conversions at 11pm while telling themselves they’re “just researching.”

From 30 May 2026, you’ll be able to listen on Spotify while:

  • driving your own road trip route

  • flying somewhere new

  • walking along the beach

  • sitting around a caravan park campfire

  • commuting to work while mentally pretending you’re actually somewhere along the Western Australian coast

  • or avoiding your responsibilities entirely by planning van trips you absolutely don’t have time for

There’s something incredibly special about hearing a story while travelling yourself. The scenery feels bigger. The emotions hit differently. And suddenly you’re not just reading about the adventure, you’re inside it.

This audiobook is digitally narrated using the Clara voice with an Australian accent, because if this story was ever going to exist in audio form, it absolutely needed to sound Australian.

This new technology has opened up a really exciting space for indie authors. Traditional audiobook production is incredibly expensive (think $2,000 to $5,000 and up), and for many independent writers, creating an audiobook simply isn’t financially realistic early on.

Digital narration is changing that.

It gives indie authors the opportunity to bring stories into audio format far more affordably and accessibly, which means more books can reach listeners in new ways without requiring Hollywood-sized budgets and a small mental

breakdown over production invoices.

For me, it means Van Life with Benefits now gets to come along on your adventures too!

Creating this audiobook has been such a huge learning curve behind the scenes. I’ve spent weeks editing chapters, fine-tuning audio, fixing pronunciations, and listening to the same sentences so many times that I briefly lost all understanding of normal human speech patterns.

At one point I became emotionally invested in whether a pause between two words was “too dramatic.”

This is apparently who I am now.

But hearing these characters come to life outside the pages for the first time has honestly been such a special experience.

And now they’re finally ready to hit the road.

🎧 Van Life with Benefits is available on Spotify from 30 May 2026.

So whether you’re setting off on your own van trip, heading out for a weekend drive, or simply daydreaming about coastal adventures from your desk while pretending to answer emails, I hope this story keeps you company along the way!
